I loved this simple text and beautiful illustrations. It brought back memories of my childhood
playing dress up with my friends. The
poem tells of girls playing dress-up with their grandmothers’ clothes. They paint their toes, spray perfume and
balance in high heels! Now they are all dressed up with no place to go! Their
mother will not take them out "looking like that."
I think this is a great way to introduce
young readers to poetry, especially young girls.
